Tripawds is a user-supported community. Thank you for your support!

We’ve been so busy and I’m super bad at keeping up with technology. Last summer was scary and presented new challenges. After surgery Yoshi went on Chemo and a strict diet of organic chicken, turkey, buffalo, veggies, and berries. He eats better then we do. I read The Dog Cancer Survival Guide extensively and it helped with every medical and dietary question we had. I highly recommend this book!!! We couldn’t have done all of this without our AMAZING oncologist Dr.Fowler who would call us and research new procedures we found, or she heard, to help beat this cancer. We only did 4 doses of Carboplatin and had to put him on the lowest dose since he didn’t react very well to them. We then agreed to put him on Chlorambucil and Piroxicam for the remaining year. We also have him taking K9 Immunity Plus, Omegas, and COQ10. Every 3 months after IV chemo we’ve had blood work and chest Xrays. Every time we had to go in for Xrays of his chest, my chest would get tight and I was on the verge of tears, fearing the worst. Obviously I prayed for the best, but the worry gets the better of me sometimes. We are happy to only have one more Xray and blood work in a couple of months and then we shall be done with the prescription and oncology. Though we will miss our awesome oncologist and will keep in touch, we are so blessed to have our Yoshi make it to the 1 year mark. He is running around, playing , going on longer walks, and unfortunately back digging in our rose garden :/. We took a long road trip all together before Chemo started and covered 12 states in 2 weeks. We didn’t know what the future held for us but we took the opportunity to enjoy it before it could be taken away. We are very lucky and blessed to have the team and will power to do everything necessary to make it this far. I hope this is some comfort and please feel free to ask me any questions. Bless you all and my heart goes out to all having to deal with a life changing experience. One day at a time my friends.
